- Your credit report contains significantly more underwriting data than just the 3-digit score.
- Section 1 Demographics must match your official PAN card and passport details with zero clerical errors.
- Section 3 Account Information reveals masked account numbers, sanction amounts, ownership status, and current balances.
- Section 4 DPD Grid maps a 36-to-48 month calendar of payment timeliness where "000" indicates flawless repayments.
Section 1: Consumer Identification & Demographics
The topmost section contains your verified personal identifiers: Full Legal Name, Date of Birth, Gender, PAN, Passport Number, Voter ID, Driver’s License, and Aadhaar reference token.
Underwriters cross-reference these identifiers against your loan application documents. A single transposed digit in your PAN can link another individual’s defaulted loan to your credit file (known as a "clone file" error).
Always ensure your PAN number matches exactly. In India, PAN is the primary anchor used by all 4 bureaus.
Section 2: Contact Information & Address History
This section maintains a historical registry of all residential and office addresses submitted by past lenders. It also stores registered mobile numbers and email addresses.
Mortgage underwriters evaluate address stability. Having 8 different addresses logged within a 12-month period can prompt manual underwriting queries regarding employment and residential stability.
Section 3: Account Information & Trade Lines Table
This is the heart of your credit report. Every loan and credit card appears as an individual "trade line" detailing:
| Data Field | Description | Underwriting Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Account Number | Masked account identifier (e.g., 501004XXXXXX1234) | Used to cross-reference with your bank statements |
| Ownership Type | Single, Joint, Guarantor, or Authorized User | Determines if you bear 100% or shared liability |
| Sanction Amount | Maximum credit limit or original principal sanctioned | Used to calculate total leverage and limit utilization |
| Current Balance | Outstanding principal balance as of last reporting date | Used to calculate monthly debt servicing and FOIR |
| Account Status | Open, Closed, Settled, Written-Off, or Restructured | Determines whether account is clean or carries negative flags |
Section 4: The 36-Month Days Past Due (DPD) Calendar Grid
Directly beneath each account is a tabular grid recording your monthly repayment behavior for up to 36 or 48 months. Each month contains a 3-character string:
• "000" or "STD": Paid strictly on or before the due date (Standard Asset).
• "030", "060", "090": The exact number of days payment was delayed past due.
• "XXX": No data reported by the lender for that specific month.
A single non-zero entry (e.g. 035) in the last 12 months can disqualify you from prime tier home loan interest rates.
Section 5: Enquiry Information & Audit Trail
Every time a lender pulls your credit report for an application, a "Hard Enquiry" is recorded with the date, lender name, loan purpose, and requested amount.
Soft inquiries (such as when you audit your score on CheckCIBILScore) are never shown to external lenders and do not affect this section.
